IMPROVE WIRELESS FLASH RESULTS
Achieve attractive off-camera lighting using infrared triggering
1 ENSURE LINE OF SIGHT
When using your camera’s integral flash to trigger a remote unit, remove any major barriers between the camera and slave speedlight. The latter must be able to ‘see’ the master pulse from the built-in flash, which carries control data and tells the remote flash to fire.
2 CONTROL MASTER FLASH OUTPUT
On some cameras you have the choice of setting the master builtin flash to add to the illumination of the subject, or to merely act as a trigger. if you require some fill light, consider selecting the former and lowering the integral flash to the lowest output.
3 ALTER SLAVE FLASH POWER
Take advantage of dedicated same-brand camera flash communication and control the output of the slave speedlight from the camera itself. use the flash control menu, select the appropriate group and alter power accordingly.
4 CHANGE SYNC MODE
Change the flash synchronisation mode of both the integral flash (if using this to contribute lighting) and the slave units. second curtain sync will allow more ambient light to be recorded, for a better flash and natural light balance, though beware of camera shake.
