Last month we reviewed the Vallerret Women’s Nordic gloves, and this month we’ve turned our attention to the unisex Ipsoot gloves. These are thicker and warmer than the Nordics, feeling similar to skiing gloves. Unlike standard skiing gloves, however, they have flip-off caps on the index fingers and thumbs. This means that you can feel the buttons and dials of a camera without having to expose your whole hand or all of your fingers to the cold.

Like the Nordics, magnets hold the finger caps back while your finger tips are exposed. However, the magnets are occasionally not strong enough to maintain their attraction. Nevertheless, we found the caps usually stay out of the way.

If you are planning to go out in very cold conditions, or photography isn’t the main aim of your trip, the Ipsoot gloves are an excellent choice. Otherwise, we would recommend the Nordic or Markhof gloves, which aren’t as warm but do allow more dexterity.
