2 DON’T RUN BEFORE YOU CAN WALK

If a client asks for a pose you’ve not done before or you are not confident putting the baby in, then don’t do it. Remember, it’s a tiny person you are handling. You need to get training.

3 KEEP THE ROOM WARM

Around 24-25 degrees. That may sound warm to you, but the baby is mostly undressed during the session, so you need to keep them comfortable. If you wrap them, check the back of the neck for sweat to ensure they are not overheating when wrapped up.

4 USE WHITE NOISE TO CALM THE BABY

I have the radio on in the studio and also use an app to play a heartbeat noise on my phone to settle the baby. Babies are used to having background noise as their mummy’s tummy wasn’t a quiet place, so the white noise helps them to settle.

5 ALLOW PLENTY OF TIME FOR A SESSION I can guarantee that the moment you start to stress about the baby not settling, then it will take twice as long to settle that baby.
