USE PROFESSIONAL SOFTWARE SKILLS
Put these essential editing steps to work and improve the reliability of your wide-angle results
Even the most expensive of lenses will exhibit some flaws at the frame edges and at the widest focal lengths, requiring some corrective measures to be applied as standard. The extent to which these workflows are necessary will depend on the equipment used and the presence of accessories, lighting, subject distance and camera angle. It is best to carry out the majority of lens correction work on your RAW files, since these can be revisited and settings revised at any time. This may be useful if newer versions of software offer improved algorithms for removing distortions, or if new lens and camera pairing profiles are made available in future. Once the RAW processes are complete, bringing your images into Photoshop will enable you to address complex imperfections that the automatic corrections are unable to eradicate. For example, wave-type distortions are often left untouched by initial corrections and require more bespoke and localised treatment.
