“OUR TRAVELS REMAIN ONE OF THE CHIEF REASONS TO TAKE TIME AND TROUBLE OVER OUR PHOTOS”

- MATT BENNETT, EDITOR matthew.bennett@futurenet.com

Welcome to the latest issue of DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHER magazine. In days gone by, our travels to summer holiday destinations were among the chief situations in which we made photographs. We bought some rolls of film, dusted off the camera and hoped to capture a few snaps worth keeping. These days, we take photos much more frequently – thanks to the fact that most of us have a camera to hand pretty much all the time. But our travels remain one of the chief reasons to take time and trouble over our photos. In this issue, we’ve got an in-depth guide to shooting stunning scenes, and capturing culture and colour, wherever you go. You’ll find it on p36 of the magazine.

However, there’s plenty in this issue for fans of portrait photography. On p50, you’ll find Holly Wren’s guide to working with people, looking at how to pose and frame brilliant portraits, while Lauren Scott has tackled self-portraits on p64 of this issue. What’s more, Tom Calton has looked at how to use your bathtub to create artistic portraits. You’ll find that on p80 of the magazine.

As ever, we’ve got galleries, product reviews and industry news – plus our regular career guide, which this time discusses moving to a mirrorless system. The group test this issue looks at flash kits that are suitable for working on location.

As always, we’d love to see some of your own images, so please upload them to our Facebook page at WWW.FACEBOOK.COM/DIGITALPHOTOGRAPHERUK.

If you’ve got a question about photography that you’d love us to tackle in the magazine, simply get in touch using the email address directly below. Until next time, enjoy your photography!
