2020: WHAT DO THE BIG THREE (SONY, CANON AND NIKON) SAY?

-

Sony has already released its latest pro systems – the high-resolution A7R IV and fast action A9 II – so we already know Sony’s direction for the next 12 months. However, more so than hardware, Sony’s impressive firmware updates are what will keep it in the fight in 2020. “The voice of our customers is absolutely critical to Sony – we are always listening,” says the company.

Canon is calling the 1D X Mk III “the new action hero” and pegging it as “the ultimate camera for sports and wildlife”. While being coy about details, the company bragged to us that the camera’s deep-learning AF algorithm “is an autofocus system we haven’t seen before. This is something very new, very different.”

Nikon, having refused to announce any specs whatsoever, was even more nebulous in its comments about the D6, promising only “the ultimate in performance”. It is confident, however, that the camera will “demonstrate Nikon’s commitment to expanding the possibilities for imaging expression, while leading the way in imaging culture with both digital SLR and mirrorless camera systems.”
