NORTHERN SKIES

A small pond of water at Haukland Beach worked perfectly as the foreground to capture the strong Aurora Borealis, with the mountains in the distance – a quite beautiful autumn night in Lofoten, northern Norway. A solar storm was predicted for these days and oh boy, the Aurora raged in the clear sky that night!

THE CREEK

The colourful sunsets were quite rare during my last trip to Lofoten, but heading back from a shoot I passed by the small town of Ramberg and the light broke through. I pulled over near the beach. I was not the only one. Multiple cars arrived and I’ve never seen so many photographers trying to get through the snow and down to the beach.

AUTUMN NIGHTS

I’m pretty sure that I found a new favourite location in Lofoten during my last trip to Norway back in September 2019. Autumn in Lofoten is quite remarkable! The place is covered in autumnal colours, and during the crisp night the Aurora Borealis will appear bright in the night sky when the sky is clear.

FALL

I was overwhelmed by the vivid colours in Lofoten. Since I’d only seen Lofoten during winter, with a lot of snow, I was able to get some new perspectives and compositions now. I found this gorgeous curve created by red autumn leaves, – interesting as a foreground – and it looked amazing with the mountain range in the background.

THE NAMIB

During the drive towards Deadvlei and Sossusvlei in Namibia via the valley, we stopped along the road because the sun had just risen above the mountains in the east. The light made the dunes glow in warm light, and long, dark shadows appeared – it was a fantastic contrast, combined with the sharp lines formed on the dunes.
