BEAUTIFUL BLENHEIM
Special garden image winner announced
The winner of the 2020 Beautiful Blenheim Special Photo Award – a contest that accompanies the major International Garden Photographer of the Year exhibition – has been announced. The category was launched to celebrate the extraordinary historical and botanical heritage of Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire, England.
The first place winner (for the second year running) is Cereta Drewett with her photograph, “Winston”. Cereta created this composite shot by combining an image of the bust of Sir Winston Churchill with an image of one of Blenheim’s ancient oak trees. “The oak tree adds texture and is symbolic of strength,” she says. “I chose the colour blue to represent memory and the passing of time.”
The image will feature at this year’s IGPOTY exhibition at Blenheim Palace. Ticketed gardens in England have only just been allowed to open (at the time of writing), so an exact opening date is yet to be announced. The exhibition is free with entry to Blenheim Palace, but prebooking and social distancing will apply. WWW.IGPOTY.COM WWW.BLENHEIMPALACE.COM
