CANON FIRMWARE OFFERS UPDATES APLENTY
Three major firmware updates released for EOS R5, R6 and 1DX Mark III
The EOS R5 and EOS R6, along with the EOS 1DX Mark III are Canon’s headline cameras, sporting the most advanced tech for stills and video available in the Canon photo range. A recent crop of firmware updates has streamlined them further and fixed some of the niggles users have complained about. The biggest enhancements go to the EOS R5, which gets 120 frames-per-second rating in Full HD (1080p) video recording. This is bolstered by the ability to shoot in the Canon Log 3 profile, which makes colour adjustments easier in post-processing. Furthermore, the LCD now turns off during shooting to save battery. The EOS R6 has some major bug fixes, notably the phenomenon in which the camera stops to operate normally when the movie cropping setting is chosen, with v1.3.0 installed. For the EOS 1DX Mark III the updates are mainly for workflow streamlining, including improved communication reliability when using FTP and USB simultaneously.
