TALKING POINT…

STREAMING TO YOUTUBE

-

For some, the ability to stream live to YouTube from the M50 Mark II via a smartphone is the most significant upgrade that it makes on the M50. However, this function comes with a couple of caveats. Firstly, the YouTube channel must be live-stream-enabled and have at least 1,000 subscribers. Secondly, understandably, the phone needs to have an internet connection with a speed of at least 6Mbps. You also need to create an image.canon (https://image.canon/) account on the camera so that ‘Live Streaming’ appears as an option under ‘Wi-Fi/Bluetooth connection’ in the menu.

The next step is to use the phone to create a live event on your YouTube channel and then go back to ‘Live Streaming’ on the camera and follow the steps to get going. At least that’s the theory. Unfortunately, although the camera detected the event I’d created more than a dozen times, it wouldn’t stream live. I was able to stream wirelessly via a computer, but even that proved unreliable.
