One of the biggest changes from the era of film photography to today is that we all take so many more photos than we used to. But this freedom is a double-sided coin, with the flipside being that it can be really difficult to find a particular image in your collection.

Excire is purpose-built to address that problem. As you add photos you’ve taken to its interface, it uses artificial intelligence to analyse each shot, then creates searchable keywords based on its contents – it can recognise even the smallest details. It also looks for techniques you might have used when you took the shot, such as bokeh or high contrast, and adds keywords for those, too. Now you can search for images using any combination of these keywords, with results appearing in seconds. Finding a specific photo has never been easier.

SEARCH BY TECHNIQUE Excire looks for techniques you used when you shot each photo, so you can find an image based not just on what’s in the photo, but how you took it – for example, landscape, portrait or bokeh. Here, Excire has highlighted photos for their use of leading lines. You can create a Collection from the results, or save any search to use later.

SEARCH FOR FACES Available as a free Lightroom plugin, Excire Search 1 can search your photographs for faces, with searches based on gender, age or even whether they’re smiling, for example. Excire Foto and Excire Search 2 can extend this capability to facial recognition, so that you can search for specific people in your photo collection.

SEARCH FOR SIMILAR PHOTOS

Looking for a photo with a particular style, colour scheme or approach? Simply select an image, and click Find Similar Photos (the magnifying glass in the top-right corner of the image thumbnail). Excire will search your collections and present a selection of images with similar visual properties.
