Historic industry chic meets the vibes of a modern hotel
The boutique hotel, heyligenstaedt in Giessen, impresses at first sight via its listed industrial façade from the year 1876. What was an iron factory over a century ago, is today the newly designed HOTEL & RESTAURANT heyligenstaedt, which offers excellent service and culinary highlights.
Once a factory for iron tools, the industrial building underwent a marvellous transformation and was turned into HOTEL & RESTAURANT heyligenstaedt in 2012. Fortunately, the architectural charm of the industrial memorial remains completely untouched. The hosts, Bettina and Markus Leidner, artfully show how industrial architecture can be presented with a modern twist.
The exterior keeps history alive while the interiors are sophisticated and creatively done. Exclusive designer wallpaper is in harmony with almost 240-year-old, exposed brick wall. Fluffy carpets create the perfect symbioses with antique oak floorboards. The 20 rooms of the modern boutique hotel are all individually designed, which gives every space its own special atmosphere. With an allergy-friendly and barrier-free level, a rooftop sauna and a mini spa area, every guest can find the right spot.
The location in central Hessian Giessen, which is not just the administrative heart of the town but also a significant transport hub, brings guests to the hotel for a range of different reasons. The heyligenstaedt is also an excellent event venue and hosts many occasions. The in-house IHKcertified wedding planner, Julia Eisenreich, skilfully ensures that weddings turn into unforgettable experiences.
The culinary side of the hotel’s offerings also stands out. The food is as stunning as the hotel’s beautiful architecture. “Whether a cosy dinner for two, a lovely glass of Burgundy or a unique event – the restaurant heyligenstaedt demonstrates
