Even today, flying has lost none of its fascination. Now, you can take a look behind the scenes of one of the places where flying is an everyday business.
“Theme park airport – immerse yourself in the wonderful world of flying,” describes Sybille Stauch, head of visitor services at Hamburg Airport, on a colourful mix of offers that will make the hearts of both small and big fans of aviation beat faster. Stauch elaborates: “We have a true-to-scale representation of Hamburg Airport on display – including model airplanes taking off and landing, original radio messages, engine noises and vibrating seats.”
Guided tours allow for an even closer look at this fascinating world.“We visit different airport areas – areas even frequent flyers are unfamiliar with. On the apron, our guests become live witnesses to airplanes taking off at 300 kilometres per hour. How is the baggage handled and how does the airport’s fire department work? What does the de-icing station look like? Where are the business planes parked? These and many other questions are answered on our tours.”
Certain areas, such as the panorama terrace or the model show’s premises are available for rent for incentives, company events, birthday parties or similar.
