MINT-friendly school with clear values

-

MINT (Mathematics, Informatics, Natural Science and Technology) subjects help young talents prosper and that starts in school. The Merz Schule gemeinnützige GMBH school in Stuttgart accompanies children from Kindergarten to their Abitur and in 2013 was named a MINT-friendly school. The school has defended this title ever since.

“Next to highly qualified teaching in all MINT topics, we regularly participate in regional and nationwide competitions,” says Konstantin Merz, principal and the founder’s grandson. In 2017, the school was classed among the ten most successful schools in Germany.

Digital education also plays an important role in MINT subjects and beyond: “The critical reflective handling of different media takes centre stage.” Next to expertise, clear values are most important for a responsible use of the possibilities of digitalisation. “Our pedagogic approach and aim is that children think while observing and act creatively, ”says Merz, about the underlying values.

Founded in 1918 as Werkhaus-Werkschule Merz, the school today is known for its innovative and successful teaching methods. Students not only gain knowledge, but also learn to question their environment and develop their own positions: “We encourage young people to expand their mental and creative potential and surpass themselves.”
