STONEWALL LAUNCHES ELECTION MANIFESTO
LGBT charity Stonewall has launched a powerful election manifesto ahead of the general election. They are urging the British public to not only register to vote, but also to ask their candidates to show a real commitment to LGBT equality. Vital steps Stonewall believes the next government must take include changing the law so that LGBT hate crimes are treated in the same way as race or faith crimes, introducing Lgbt-inclusive relationship and sex eduction in schools and improving Gender Identity Services to make them more useful and accessible. They also say the Human Rights Act must be retained even after the UK leaves the EU and that the UK should respond quickly and decisively whenever LGBT people face violence abroad.
