Region topsold age list
Dumfries and Galloway has the joint oldest population in Scotland.
The average age of the region’s residents is just under 49.
And that puts it on a par with Argyll and Bute.
The two regions top a list of Scottish local authority areas with the oldest populations.
According to new figures from the Office for National Statistics, Glasgow has the youngest.
The average age of people living in the city is now under 36 – its lowest level since at least the turn of the century.
The median age across the country is 42 which is more than three years higher than it was at the turn of the century.
