Man raped child
A sex attacker is behind bars after the“disgraceful” rape and abuse of a teenage girl.
Donald McGillvary preyed on his young victim for more than four years.
The 37-year-old had denied the crimes which occurred in Annan.
But, McGillvary was found guilty on Thursday following a trial at the High Court in Glasgow.
Lord Clark told him: “You have been convicted of the sexual assault of a child when she was 12 and the repeated rape when she was aged 13 to 16. “This was disgraceful and abhorrent behaviour.” The judge remanded McGillvary, of Dumfries, in custody as sentencing was deferred for reports. He was placed on the sex offenders list meantime. McGillvary showed no emotion as he was led handcuffed to the cells.
After the verdict, Lord Clark told jurors the case had been “distressing and unpleasant”.
