Small busi­ness ac­co­lade for Mel

Dum­fries’Mel Car­ruthers has been fly­ing the flag for small busi­nesses at a House of Lords re­cep­tion in Lon­don.

Her com­pany, More Or­gan­ised Ltd, was named as one of the UK’s best at this year’s Small Biz 100 and gained recog­ni­tion for its con­tri­bu­tion to the econ­omy and the lo­cal com­mu­nity.

The event was part of the na­tion­wide Small Busi­ness Satur­day cam­paign to pro­mote small firms.

Mel helps fam­i­lies, homes and busi­nesses to get de­clut­tered and or­gan­ised af­ter en­joy­ing suc­cess with her blog – www.more­or­gan­ – while liv­ing in Dubai.

She quit her cor­po­rate job in the Mid­dle East and moved back to Dum­fries with her Thorn­hill-born hus­band, Chris, to set up her busi­ness and is grate­ful for the help given by Busi­ness Gate­way and the cham­ber of com­merce in the town.

Mel said:“I am de­lighted that More Or­gan­ised was cho­sen as one of the 100 from amongst thou­sands of en­tries.

“It is the only busi­ness in Dum­fries and Gal­loway to have been se­lected for the ac­co­lade this year and one of five in Scot­land.

“It’s also the first time that a mem­ber of the pro­fes­sional or­gan­is­ing in­dus­try has been cho­sen, so I am thrilled to be fly­ing the flag for my pro­fes­sion.”
