Gretna are set to host the Strollers

Man­ager­less Gretna had a free week­end as the hunt for their next boss con­tin­ues.

They face fa­mil­iar op­po­si­tion onSatur­day as they host Civil Ser­vice Strollers at Ray­dale, with the Ed­in­burgh side hav­ing beaten them 2-1 in their last meet­ing.

Dal­beat­tie S tare nj oyed some respite from their league wor­ries as they be­gan the de­fenceof the South­ern Coun­ties Chal­lengeCup in style.

The Isle­croft side trav­elled to New­ton Stewart on the back of­four straight de­feats in the Low­land League which have seen them slip to sec­ond from bot­tom.

But the Creesiders didn’t present too much of a chal­lengeas Star romped to a com­fort­able 8-0win.

The vis­i­tors held a 2-0 lead at the break thanks to strikes from Con­nor Gra­ham and Ross Green, be­fore pil­ing on the goals in the sec­ond pe­riod with Ally Ma­son, LewisTodd, Lewis Sloan, Lloyd Pipe and a dou­ble from Ross Thom­son round­ing off the scor­ing.

The Creesiders also had two men sentoff in the sec­ond half as Star se­cured a com­fort­able pas­sage into the sec­on­dround.

They will be hop­ing the re­sult pro­vides a much-needed con­fi­dence boost ahead of a trip to Ed­in­burgh Univer­sity on league­busi­ness this week­end. Kick-off for both games is3pm.
