The U12s romp to victory

Dumfries & Galloway Standard - - MOTORS -

The U12 Sharks headed to Edinburgh on Saturday to take on Murrayfield.

The youngsters were quick to state their intent, Tomas Vyrostek with two goals in the first 10 minutes setting the tone.

With Murrayfield pinned in their own zone, Thomson added one before Duignan finished the period with another just before the whistle.

Starting the second period with a 4-0 lead the wee Sharks overwhelmed the opposition and a goal-fest followed. Thomson got the first, before Duignan added two unassisted goals within a minute.

Vyrostek was next with his hat-trick. William Daley weighed in with a goal, then there was another Thomson goal.

Owen Rae added an unassisted effort to the tally, before Duignan got the next.

The period break saw the count for Solway at 12 and a stunned Murrayfield yet to make an impact. Logan Reid then Braiden Howat in the Solway net were largely untroubled.

After the flurry of scoring the Sharks took their foot off the pedal and put on a display of good passing. Duignan added another two goals in the first three minutes to take his total to six.

Abileigh Turner popped in a powerplay goal, adding to the troubles of the beleaguered Murrayfield side.

The final two goals were also for Solway, Wojcik followed by an unassisted Thomson goal for 17-0.

Abileigh Turner was MVP for Solway.
