In the SouthofS­cot­land League, the first week­endof 2019 threw up a few sur­prise re­sults although the top teams all claimed an­other three points each.

Lead­ers Stranraer recorded a com­fort­able three goals to nil vic­tory overWig­town and Blad­noch at Tram­mond­ford Park to main­tain their un­beaten run with all the goals com­ing in the first 45min­uteso f the match.n Seco d p lacedBon­ny­tonThis­tle beat StCuth­bertWan­der­ers by six goals to three at Kil­marnock while LocharThis­tle saw off the chal­len­geof neigh­bours He­stonRovers by four goals to two.Pro­lific striker Iain Anderson opened the scor­ing for the home side on the 35th minute with De­vanNi­chol­son mak­ing it2-0 three min­utes later.Four­min­utes af­ter the break Anderson scored his team’s third from the penalty spotandin the 51st minute he found the ne­ta­gain to com­plete his hat-trick and recorded his 100th goal for Lochar.

The vis­i­tors then started a fight­back whenPhilip Mid­dle­miss scored in the 66th minute with Jamie Struthers adding a sec­ond with ten min­utes left to play to com­plete the scor­ing.

Niths­daleWan­der­ers came ou­ton top in their match at San­quhar against AbbeyVale in a five goal thriller that saw the home side still un­beaten at home sinceAu­gust last year.This was de­spite play­ing with ten men­for­much of the game af­ter DavidThom­son was sentoff fol­low­ing a sec­ond yel­low card af­ter they had taken the lead through Rhys Grif­fiths.

Niths­dale’s sec­ond goal came from a Sean McKen­zie penalty and with the teams locked at two-all fol­low­ing two goals fromTommy Goss forVale and time run­ning out the home side pro­duced a late win­ner whenS­tu­art Bell poked the ball home.

Dum­friesYMCA man­aged to takea point from their match against Lochmaben at Locker­bie in aone-all draw with both goals com­ing in the first half. A Rob­bie McIll­wraith free-kick­gave the home side the lead with the vis­i­tors skip­per AaronJar­dine lev­el­ling the match a minute be­fore the break.

The same score­line was recorded at Blair­mount Park with New­tonSte­wart and Mid An­nan­dale shar­ing the points.Grant Fitz­im­mons gave the Creesiders the lead that they held un­til late in the match when a DeanSmith cross was de­flected into the net for an own­goal that saw the match end­ing in aone-all draw.
