PERTH SUCCESS FOR GRANT
Grant Hardie won the Mercure Perth Masters on Sunday.
The Kirkgunzeon curler was part of Bruce Mouat’s rink that defeated Glen Muirhead in the final in Perth.
The team was full of Dumfries and Galloway talent with Stranraer’s Bobby Lammie and Hammy McMillan Jr also part of the successful rink.
Team Mouat, who won the European championship last year, recorded a convincing 8-3 win in the competition.
Along the way they defeated the rink of Dumfries’ Ross Whyte, who was knocked out by Team Muirhead in the quarterfinals.
Grant and his team-mates had no time to relax after their latest success as on Monday morning they headed to North Battleford in Saskatchewan for the Meridian Canadian Open, the latest round of the Grand Slam of Curling. Their first game was scheduled for Tuesday night.
New Abbey’s Fraser Kingan has also been competing in Canada lately, taking part in the Qualico Mixed Doubles Classic.
They were unable to make it through to the play-offs after winning two and losing three of their round-robin matches.
