Grant Hardie won the Mer­cure Perth Masters on Sun­day.

The Kirk­gun­zeon curler was part of Bruce Mouat’s rink that de­feated Glen Muir­head in the fi­nal in Perth.

The team was full of Dum­fries and Galloway tal­ent with Stranraer’s Bobby Lam­mie and Hammy McMil­lan Jr also part of the suc­cess­ful rink.

Team Mouat, who won the Euro­pean cham­pi­onship last year, recorded a con­vinc­ing 8-3 win in the com­pe­ti­tion.

Along the way they de­feated the rink of Dum­fries’ Ross Whyte, who was knocked out by Team Muir­head in the quar­ter­fi­nals.

Grant and his team-mates had no time to re­lax af­ter their lat­est suc­cess as on Mon­day morn­ing they headed to North Bat­tle­ford in Saskatchewan for the Merid­ian Cana­dian Open, the lat­est round of the Grand Slam of Curl­ing. Their first game was sched­uled for Tues­day night.

New Abbey’s Fraser Kin­gan has also been com­pet­ing in Canada lately, tak­ing part in the Qual­ico Mixed Dou­bles Clas­sic.

They were un­able to make it through to the play-offs af­ter win­ning two and los­ing three of their round-robin matches.
