Baby Katie Alex Boyd with big sis­ter Lucy, mum Kirsty and dad Alan Lit­tle Katie Alex Boyd was one of the first ba­bies born in Dum­fries and Gal­loway on New Year’s Day.

She ar­rived into the world at the town’s in­fir­mary at 7.55am to proud par­ents Alan and Kirsty Boyd, from Locker­bie, and weighed 8lbs 11oz.

Mum Kirsty, 30, said: “We ar­rived at Dum­fries and Gal­loway Royal In­fir­mary at the back of 4am and she was born at five to eight.

“So, it was quite a quick birth thank good­ness.

“It’s lovely for her to be one of the first ba­bies born in the new year and we are de­lighted. Ev­ery­thing was fine and now I am glad to be home.”

Baby Katie is the cou­ple’s sec­ond child and sis­ter to three-year-old Lucy.

Proud dad Alan said: “It’s great news and now we have two wee girls.

“We have lots of vis­i­tors com­ing to see her and ev­ery­one is so pleased.

“She has been good to us with sleep so far, but we are just re­learn­ing old par­ent skills at the mo­ment.

“I work as a net­work in­fra­struc­ture an­a­lyst at the Univer­sity of the West of Scot­land and work all over the Crich­ton cam­pus.”

Kirsty said: “I work as a seam­stress in the em­broi­dery fac­tory Ros­trum Sports­wear and I am hop­ing to go back to work.”
