Whisky fan Nick unveils new malt
Nick Bullard with the first bottlle of his Moffat blended malt whisky Moffat revellers were able to bring in the new year with their very own brand of whisky.
The Moffat blended malt was launched at The Dram Circle tasting session just before Christmas.
It was the brainchild of Nick Bullard, who has been a whisky enthusiast since he was a teenager.
American Nick moved to Moffat three years ago after years of childhood visits to the town. He has visited numerous distilleries in the UK and USA in a bid to find the best combination to produce the lowland malt he wanted.
Nick selected five barrels of malt and it took two and a half years of development to bring The Moffat to the public. Now, with its own unique label, the blended malt has 2,536 numbered bottles on sale to enthusiasts for the first time.
Nick’s dream is to open his own distillery in the town for his Dark Sky Sprits Ltd company and the whisky launch was the first step towards his goal.
He has high hopes of setting up his own factory in Moffat and creating jobs.
He said: “As soon as we can find suitable premises in town, we’ll begin setting up our blending, bottling and labelling facility.
