Feet tapping at XYZ Club
Members of Kirkmichael XYZ Club celebrated Scottish Day when the Hartfell Weavers from Moffat provided the entertainment.
Billy began the afternoon with a song and he was accompanied by George on the keyboard and Willie on the accordion. The music continued and an array of songs had the feet tapping, from a polka medley to songs from WW2, and Billy also kept the members entertained when he recited a poem and told stories.
The quiz about Scottish words and their meaning was won by Mrs Lockhart.
The next meeting was the Christmas make/bake day. Mrs Copeland had made a lovely Christmas arrangement and Mrs Krause showed members cards and various small gifts she had made.
Members then enjoyed a range of quizzes, poems and songs and Andrew continued on the musical theme when he played a medley of tunes on his moothie which ended an altogether enjoyable day.
The Christmas lunch was held at the Somerton House Hotel in Lockerbie when members enjoyed a festive feast.
Christmas carols were then sung and after Mrs Irving closed the meeting, wishing everyone the compliments of the season, each member received a present from Santa’sack. The next meeting will be on January 21.
