Feet tap­ping at XYZ Club

Mem­bers of Kirk­michael XYZ Club cel­e­brated Scot­tish Day when the Hart­fell Weavers from Mof­fat pro­vided the en­ter­tain­ment.

Billy be­gan the af­ter­noon with a song and he was ac­com­pa­nied by Ge­orge on the key­board and Wil­lie on the ac­cor­dion. The mu­sic con­tin­ued and an ar­ray of songs had the feet tap­ping, from a polka med­ley to songs from WW2, and Billy also kept the mem­bers en­ter­tained when he re­cited a poem and told sto­ries.

The quiz about Scot­tish words and their mean­ing was won by Mrs Lock­hart.

The next meet­ing was the Christ­mas make/bake day. Mrs Copeland had made a lovely Christ­mas ar­range­ment and Mrs Krause showed mem­bers cards and var­i­ous small gifts she had made.

Mem­bers then en­joyed a range of quizzes, po­ems and songs and An­drew con­tin­ued on the mu­si­cal theme when he played a med­ley of tunes on his moothie which ended an al­to­gether en­joy­able day.

The Christ­mas lunch was held at the Somer­ton House Ho­tel in Locker­bie when mem­bers en­joyed a fes­tive feast.

Christ­mas car­ols were then sung and af­ter Mrs Irv­ing closed the meet­ing, wish­ing ev­ery­one the com­pli­ments of the sea­son, each mem­ber re­ceived a present from Santa’sack.The next meet­ing will be on Jan­uary 21.
