A fes­tive fling at SWI

Mrs Selina Ross, pres­i­dent of Shaw­head SWI, wel­comed mem­bers and friends to the Gal­loway Arms Ho­tel in Crock­et­ford for the Christ­mas lunch on De­cem­ber 12.

Grace was said by Selina then mem­bers en­joyed an ex­cel­lent meal af­ter which Selina pre­sented the com­pe­ti­tion win­ners for 2018.

First was Mrs Jenny Lau­rie who re­ceived the Kelly Cup for gain­ing most points in the com­pe­ti­tions dur­ing the year. Sec­ond, re­ceiv­ing the can­dle­stick holder, was Mrs Jean McClelland and third, winning the shield, was Mrs Mar­garet Gib­son.

The De­cem­ber com­pe­ti­tion was a gift wrapped box of tis­sues to be do­nated to Lochduhar Nurs­ing Home.

Carol Bry­den was first with Selina Ross run­ner up and Mar­ion Dun­bar in third.

Selina then thanked the ho­tel staff for the ex­cel­lent meal and also for judg­ing the com­pe­ti­tion.

Carol Bry­den or­gan­ised a Christ­mas carol and song game which was en­joyed by ev­ery­one and was won by Sheena Howat. After­wards mem­bers and friends sang The Twelve Days of SWI com­piled by Carol.

Selina thanked Carol for both the game and song and also for draw­ing up the new syl­labus which was given out to mem­bers.

The af­ter­noon was rounded off with ev­ery­one singing a few Christ­mas car­ols.
