Exciting new store to open in the Kingsgate Shopping Centre

-

IT’S music to your ears as HMV are opening a new shop in Dunfermline.

The Kingsgate Shopping Centre made the announcement on its Facebook page that it will be “coming soon”.

HMV are already recruiting – they’re looking for people who are “fanatical about music and film” and “passionate about pop culture and posting your latest find on social media” – and you can apply for part- and full-time positions at careers.hmv.com

Kingsgate manager Neil Mackie said: “HMV are expanding again and we’re one of the lucky ones as they’re coming to Dunfermline.

“It’s great when deals like that happen and, apart from anything else, it’s a brilliant addition to the centre.

“We’re always delighted to fill units but when it’s a good national name like HMV it’s even better.”

Last year, HMV was bought out of administration by Sunrise Records, a Canadian company, who also own the Fopp stores.

Neil said: “Talking to the guys at HMV, it’s not just the resurrection of vinyl, which I thought was a key market, but there’s a big growth in pop culture and wearable merchandise too.

“We’ve had a few music shops down the years in the Kingsgate.

“HMV were in temporarily, probably about 10 years ago, and we had Music Zone, while back in the heyday we had Our Price and Virgin Megastore, so it’s brilliant to see that again.

“And the great thing about deals like this, not just HMV but any good let, is that it encourages further potential lets.

He added: “It’s a lot of hard work, any lettings are hard work, but the agents are on it constantly.

“There’s a lot going on behind the scenes.

“Thankfully, we’re doing extremely well, we’re filling units rather than losing them.”
