‘Magnificent’ family fun day in memory of Robyn

- By Ellidh Aitken

A FUN DAY in memory of little Robyn Knox, who died in a tragic road accident, has continued the tot’s “lasting memory” in West Fife.

‘Robs in the Park’ took place on Saturday in Townhill, with the youngster’s family saying that it “means the world” for people to be remembering her.

Robyn’s mum, Danielle Falconer, told the Press: “The day went fantastic. We couldn’t have asked for a better day in terms of the organisation of the event, the smooth running of it, the amount of people who attended, the weather and everyone chipping in to help us tidy up at the end of the day.

“Both kids and adults enjoyed every aspect of it. We tried to include lots of fun and relaxation for everyone involved at relatively low cost – especially now considering the price of living – we wanted everyone from all walks of life to have a good day.

“The idea initially started as having an annual princess-type ball in Robyn’s memory, however, after lots of thought and discussion it seemed more appropriate to hold a fun day in her memory as this is something she would have thrived off.”

The three-year-old, from Cardenden, was killed after being struck by a car on Townhill’s Main Street in August 2020.

Since then, her family has rallied to raise money in support of others going through similar tragedies, participating annually in ‘Miles for Smiles’ as well as other tough challenges.

This year, ‘Miles for Smiles’ took them the distance between Robyn’s house and Lapland and back throughout the month of August.

The team completed the journey at Townhill Country Park to mark the beginning of the family fun day.

“Miles for smiles was a great success again, lots of people taking part and walking in Robyn’s memory,” Danielle said.

“Lots of miles accumulated – we got her to Lapland and back which is fantastic.”

And that isn’t the end of fundraising for this year, with the family planning several “smaller-scale” events in the run-up to Christmas, including a Halloween disco, a ladies’ night, and the possibility of a Santa’s Grotto or Christmas Fayre.

Funds raised through the Remembering Robyn Trust are going towards a hospital room for parents who are faced with sudden loss.

Danielle says that upcoming events will be smaller due to work on the area beginning soon, which will take up a lot of their time.

“All there is to say is thank you to everyone who helped out on the day, who attended the day and those who made a donation.

“A massive thank you to each and every one of our sponsors who sponsored an attraction for the fun day – it really went a long way in helping us provide a magnificent day.

“We are forever grateful to everyone who has remembered Robyn and continues to remember her, helping us continue her legacy.”
