Moonlight Zoo ready to give Murrayfield a try

-

MOVE aside Harry Styles,

Moonlight Zoo have booked a gig at Murrayfield Stadium – and their new song has been added to the match day playlist.

The Dunfermline band might not be playing to the full crowd of more than 67,000 on the pitch, but they will be taking over the fan village for sets before and after Scotland take on Australia at rugby on Saturday in the Autumn internationals.

And while Jamie Adamson – who makes up one quarter of the lineup alongside Sean Defrancesco,

John Muir Jr and Richard Sharp – wishes he could take full credit for the show, he says it is all down to the keen eye of their team member, Megan Fitzpatrick.

He told the Press: “I apply for loads of stuff and sometimes things like this come in, the guys were pleasantly surprised. It’s a real privilege and one to make the most of, the rugby team narrowed down the bands and picked the single to be featured, so that will be played for the sold-out crowds.”

They are one of four bands who will play for rugby fans throughout the next month, joining fellow Dunfermline groups Bears with Feathers and Dancing on Tables.

Spyres, from Glasgow, are the only act not from the city and Jamie credits that to Dunfermline’s thriving music scene, an “underrated place in Scotland to play”.

Moonlight Zoo’s new single, If Only, launched last week and has since racked up nearly 8,000 listens on Spotify.

“It’s surpassed anything we’ve done before,” Jamie said. “It’s been such a long wait and a lot of anticipation but it really landed the right way. The plan is to tour in November and December and then go into a bit of a writing hibernation in January. It’s a breath of fresh air for the guys, we’ve worked so hard and we’ve been writing constantly. We had been sitting on the song for a while and were excited about it.”

The band will play at BT Murrayfield’s fan village on

Saturday before returning to Dunfermline for a gig on December 3 at PJ Molloys.
