Plans for 59 homes near Townhill
PLANS to build 59 new houses to the north of Dunfermline have been submitted to Fife Council.
Lochay Homes have proposed to develop land between Kent Street and Townhill Country Park.
Around 15 of the new homes, or 25 per cent, would be affordable, with hopes to deliver the full development within the next four years.
Woodland separates the site from Townhill Country Park, which sits immediately to the north.
Previously the area was the subject of an application for 92 new homes by Glasgow developers MacTaggart and Mickel, though those were initially refused by Fife Council, citing over development, in July 2019.
An appeal to Scottish ministers was sustained in 2020, though nothing ultimately became of the plans.
Cardenden-based Lochay Homes say that the maximum capacity for homes in the area would be 80, though they have proposed a far smaller number for the four hectare site, which was previously used for agricultural purposes.
The land borders the country park, loch and national waterski centre, and the proposed route for Fife Council’s Northern Link Road, a £20 millionplus bypass to serve new housing estates in the north and west of the city, is likely to run by or through the site.
There would be 13 different house-types, with drawings of four-bed and three-bed houses and bungalows submitted.
The development plans also include work to create site access and internal roads, resident and visitor parking spaces, pedestrian routes, greenery planting, and equipped children’s play area.
The company say this would be in line with the surrounding landscape and lend inspiration from the country park, including natural features such as slopes, boulders, and logs.
Neighbours have now been notified and can make comments until November 17.
