Seven weeks of roadworks ahead at Kincardine

-

OVERNIGHT works are taking place over seven weeks between Kincardine and Devilla Forest.

The project started on Monday and will see BEAR Scotland replace over 4,000 metres of carriageway filter drain on the A985.

Work is taking place between 7.30pm and 6am – and there’s a separate scheme north of Kincardine too. Lane closures and temporary traffic lights will be in place on the A985 and all traffic management procedures will be removed outwith these times.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s south east network manager, said: “These works will improve the existing road drainage system, through pipe repairs and renewing of filter drains, improving the overall highway drainage and creating safer journeys for motorists.

“Lane closures and temporary traffic lights will be in place so that these improvements can be delivered safely, however the works have been programmed to take place during night-time hours in order to minimise any disruption.

“We’ll do all we can to complete the works as quickly and safely as possible and thank the public in advance for their patience and understanding.”

There’s also works taking place to the north of Kincardine, on the A977. A short stretch between Kilbagie Roundabout and Gartarry Roundabout was closed overnight on Monday as part of an ongoing road widening project. Overnight traffic lights and temporary lane closures will be in place on the A977, from 7.30pm to 6.30am, on weeknights until December 5.

Mr Deans added: “This scheme will reduce queuing and congestion around Kilbagie and Gartarry roundabouts during peak times.”

The works are weather permitting and subject to postponement if there are adverse conditions. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and check the Traffic Scotland website.
