Let’s get ready to jumble with Oakley’s young team

-

OAKLEY United’s 2012 football team are gearing up for the season with a jumble sale to raise cash for training kit and winter jackets.

With a variety of stalls on offer including clothes, home baked goods, raffles, toys and general bric-a-brac there will be something for everyone at the fundraiser at the village’s community centre on Saturday, November 12.

Co-ordinator Marysia Allan told the

Press: “Considering what everyone has been through the last couple of years, the cost of living crisis and with it getting near to Christmas, I thought a jumble sale would be a great way to get the community together, give a few bargains to people who are struggling and get some funds back in for the Oakley United boys as well.

“Our aim is to raise enough funds to get them winter jackets and training tracksuits.”

As well as the stalls, Oakley Community Centre has kindly donated the use of their kitchen so tea, coffee and cake will be available too. And one mum is setting up a bonus ball with a £250 cash prize up for grabs.

Marysia continued: “It’s nice to bring the community back together again after the last couple of years, everybody has kept their distance and there hasn’t been anything like this so in a sense, it’s to bring the community together. It’s to let people be around people again and have those everyday conversations, relax and have a tea with a wee slice of cake!”

The team will be earning their new kit by manning the stalls and helping out at the event.

The sale is on from 11am to 3pm on Saturday November 12. You can contact Marysia about donating items on 07368 146996.
