THE FAMILY of a toddler who was killed in a car crash in Townhill have launched legal action against the driver.

Robyn Knox, who was three years old at the time, was fatally struck by a car on Main Street in August 2020.

No one was prosecuted following Robyn’s tragic death but now her parents, Danielle Falconer and Barry Knox, are pursuing civil action in a bid for answers.

Speaking to the Press two months after her daughter died, Danielle, who was expecting twins at the time, said life had been a “complete blur”.

Robyn was described as a “loving, kind, gentle and caring wee soul with the biggest heart of gold”.

The family’s solicitor said legal action is “in the early stages”.

Innes Laing, partner at Digby Brown in Kirkcaldy, said: “I can confirm a legal action has now been raised in relation to the truly devastating loss of Robyn.

“No criminal action was taken against the driver; however, a lack of prosecution does not prevent people from seeking justice via the civil courts.

“The legal action is in the early stages so we cannot comment on specific details but we are committed to ensuring Robyn’s family get the answers and recognition they deserve.”

In the days following Robyn’s death calls were made to improve road safety on Main Street, with temporary bollards placed and then a traffic order for parking restrictions made in 2021.

A 30ft mural depicting the toddler was created in October 2020 on the side of the shop near where she was killed.

The artwork, by renowned Kelty artist Donna Forrester, includes personal touches such as a custom- designed dance outfit, family poem and Robyn’s beloved toy rabbit ‘ baby’.

Danielle and Barry have also raised money since the tragedy for other families who have either lost a child or have a child in long- term care.

Their efforts will fund “helping hand boxes” which will include things which would have helped Robyn’s family.
