A CHARITY which provides specialist assistance dogs to veterans is really going places after getting a new van thanks to a £95,000 grant from Pets Foundation in Dunfermline.

Bravehound helps ex-servicemen and women who are experiencing PTSD or physical injuries as a result of their service.

Assistance dogs can provide emotional and psychological support to those who need it.

This year Bravehound was selected to be Dunfermline Pets at Home’s community partner and has benefitted from fundraising opportunities in the shop throughout the year.

Pets Foundation is the charitable arm of the company and the £95,000 grant, over two years, helped the charity buy a new van.

Fiona MacDonald, founder and CEO of Bravehound, which is based in Lennoxtown but helps veterans across the country, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to have received this fantastic van and incredible support for training from the Pets Foundation which will enable us to provide life-changing services to veterans in need.

“Our relationship with the fantastic team at the Dunfermline Pets at Home store, led by Steven Gibson, is one for which we are incredibly grateful, as well as our wonderful supporters at Furry Paws dog training at Dunfermline.

“We want to pay a special tribute to the late Jean Cheetham as it was thanks to her support we have made such amazing partnerships and friendships.”

Fiona added: “Thanks too to Fiona and David Young of the John Young Group in Rosyth for branding our new van.

“Do give us a wave when you see

Bravehound out and about. You can’t miss us!”

Amy Angus, Pets Foundation head of charity and community, also added: “We’re thrilled to have supported Bravehound with a grant of £95,000.

“The funds will allow the charity to continue their important work supporting veterans in the community; it is a real privilege to be able to support their mission.”
