FAIRS AND FUN IN THE LEAD UP TO CHRIST­MAS IN SUF­FOLK

If there’s one thing guar­an­teed to put you in the Christ­mas mood it’s a good Christ­mas fair, con­cert or carol ser­vice.

On Sun­day De­cem­ber 2, The Saints Fes­tive Street Mar­ket will pack at­mo­spheric St Ni­cholas and St Peters Streets with fes­tive craft and ar­ti­san stalls from 10am to 4pm. The Saints District of Ip­swich is cen­tred around the Wolsey Statue in St Peters Sreet, where you’ll find an ex­cit­ing mix of cafes, in­de­pen­dent shops and lo­cal busi­nesses. Park nearby in Cromwell Square, Car­di­nal Park, But­ter­mar­ket or on the Water­front. the­saintsip­swich.com Laven­ham is a won­der­ful place at Christ­mas and the vil­lage’s three-day fes­tive fair the per­fect way to kick start the cel­e­bra­tions. The his­toric Mar­ket Place is the fo­cal point and the fun starts on the evening of Fri­day De­cem­ber 7, from 5.30pm to 8.30pm. Shop for unique gifts and visit the Guild­hall and Lit­tle Hall, which will both be open. On Sat­ur­day De­cem­ber 8, (11am-5pm) and Sun­day De­cem­ber 9 (11am-4pm) there will be a wide range of stalls, food and drink, live mu­sic, tra­di­tional fair­ground rides and ap­pear­ances by Fa­ther Christ­mas.

At Snape Malt­ings, you can find spe­cial gifts, shop for fes­tive food and drink, en­joy sea­sonal en­ter­tain­ment and re­lax over a cof­fee, a snack or full meal. The Snape Malt­ings shops are stocked with a fan­tas­tic ar­ray of food, toys, books, cards, cloth­ing, home­ware, crafts and an­tiques, as well as ev­ery­thing for the mu­sic lover in the Con­cert Hall Shop and will be open on Sun­day De­cem­ber 23 from 10am-4pm, for last minute shop­ping.

Chil­dren’s Win­ter Trail, Lit­tle Ras­cals, un­til De­cem­ber 24 - pick up a Win­ter Trail map from the vis­i­tor cen­tre or Lit­tle Ras­cals. Find friends around Snape Malt­ings, end­ing in Lit­tle Ras­cals where a prize awaits chil­dren.

Christ­mas in the Malt­ings Gallery, un­til De­cem­ber 25, a cu­rated se­lec­tion of works from lo­cal artist and mak­ers, re­flect­ing the win­ter sea­son in paint­ings, ce­ram­ics, glass, wood and jewellery.

Fa­ther Christ­mas sails into Snape Malt­ings, De­cem­ber 21, ap­prox­i­mately 12pm, a lovely lo­cal, fes­tive tra­di­tion as Fa­ther Christ­mas ar­rives by his­toric Thames sail­ing barge. Af­ter ar­riv­ing at the quay he will make his way to House and Gar­den where there will be the op­por­tu­nity for chil­dren to meet him.

Christ­mas Farm­ers’ Mar­ket, De­cem­ber 22, 9.30am – high qual­ity, lo­cal foods and treats for Christ­mas.
