FAIRS AND FUN IN THE LEAD UP TO CHRISTMAS IN SUFFOLK
If there’s one thing guaranteed to put you in the Christmas mood it’s a good Christmas fair, concert or carol service.
On Sunday December 2, The Saints Festive Street Market will pack atmospheric St Nicholas and St Peters Streets with festive craft and artisan stalls from 10am to 4pm. The Saints District of Ipswich is centred around the Wolsey Statue in St Peters Sreet, where you’ll find an exciting mix of cafes, independent shops and local businesses. Park nearby in Cromwell Square, Cardinal Park, Buttermarket or on the Waterfront. thesaintsipswich.com Lavenham is a wonderful place at Christmas and the village’s three-day festive fair the perfect way to kick start the celebrations. The historic Market Place is the focal point and the fun starts on the evening of Friday December 7, from 5.30pm to 8.30pm. Shop for unique gifts and visit the Guildhall and Little Hall, which will both be open. On Saturday December 8, (11am-5pm) and Sunday December 9 (11am-4pm) there will be a wide range of stalls, food and drink, live music, traditional fairground rides and appearances by Father Christmas.
At Snape Maltings, you can find special gifts, shop for festive food and drink, enjoy seasonal entertainment and relax over a coffee, a snack or full meal. The Snape Maltings shops are stocked with a fantastic array of food, toys, books, cards, clothing, homeware, crafts and antiques, as well as everything for the music lover in the Concert Hall Shop and will be open on Sunday December 23 from 10am-4pm, for last minute shopping.

Children’s Winter Trail, Little Rascals, until December 24 - pick up a Winter Trail map from the visitor centre or Little Rascals. Find friends around Snape Maltings, ending in Little Rascals where a prize awaits children.
Christmas in the Maltings Gallery, until December 25, a curated selection of works from local artist and makers, reflecting the winter season in paintings, ceramics, glass, wood and jewellery.
Father Christmas sails into Snape Maltings, December 21, approximately 12pm, a lovely local, festive tradition as Father Christmas arrives by historic Thames sailing barge. After arriving at the quay he will make his way to House and Garden where there will be the opportunity for children to meet him.
