A hearty lunch in good company
Arthur Long, John Mitchell, Bill Lennie, Bill Barr and John Walker There may not have been a Christmas hat in sight ... but members of East Kilbride Probus Club had a merry time at their festive lunch, the 22nd year of the celebration.
President, Bill Lennie, welcomed everyone to the Bruce Hotel and briefly dealt with some business before lunch was served.
A vote of thanks to the hotel and its staff was given by Bill Lennie.
One of the club’s newer members, John Walker, then entertained with an uplifting talk.
Then there was another celebration when those gathered marked the 90th birthday of member Harry Kirkwood by presenting a cake.
While Harry has reached quite a milestone , he is not the Probus Club’s oldest member. That honour lies with Jack Fraser, who is the grand old age of 103. Unfortunately Mr Fraser was not quite well enough to attend the lunch.
The club’s next meeting will be on Wednesday, January 7, in the Old Parish Church Hall in Glebe Street, when Dr Ian Dale will give a talk, interestingly entitled,‘How to poison your spouse.’
