The nomadic ‘Star Bar Musical Ensemble’from Strathaven headed off to perform in Guy’s Bar in Eddlewood in Hamilton to find they were sharing the space with a pensioners’ night out. An impromptu concert was swiftly organised and they formed part of the entertainment for the evening, delivering the usual high quality fare to an appreciative audience They took their music from Dylan, The Beatles, Allan and James Taylor (no relation), Don Williams doing some ‘Tulsa Time’, a Buddy Holly medley including ‘Peggy Sue’, ‘Blue Moon’ and ‘Every Day’, Christy Moore’s version of ‘Fairytale of New York’, an apt number from Johnny Cash in light of the captive audience with ‘Folsom Prison Blues’, Boxcar Wullie’s rendition of ‘Lord Made a Hobo out of Me’ and a newly aired number from Passenger. The weekly music nights at the Star Bar return in the New Year.
