Club’s premiere awards ceremony

Strathaven Drama Club held their first awards ceremony on Friday, December 19, in the Scout and Guide Hall in Kirk Street.

The club, whose members are aged six to 13 years, meet every Friday from 6.308.30pm at the Scout and Guide Hall.

They also have a busy class f or y oungst e r s a g e d 1 3 t o 17 years who are studying t he “Method” approach t o acting.

The young people gave their f i rst performanc­e f or t heir parents prior to the awards ceremony.

Under their tutors Christine and Elaine Crawford the class started studying the Greek Theatre in September as this is where theatre as we know it began.

And for their award night show, they told the stor y of Arachne and Athena : How Spiders Came To Be.

The young people also presented their take on various Greek gods, including Zeus, Hades and Aphrodite to name but a few.

Each young person had researched their given god and presented to the audience a brief descriptio­n of who they were.

Christine studied Method Acting at the Arts Educationa­l School in London while her s i s t e r- i n- l aw El a i ne has a wealth of knowledge in the world of dance.
