East Kilbride firm with a lot of bottle

Staff reporter Whe n t h e I r i s h Te e l i n g Whiskey Company decided to release two new bottlings from its vintage reserve collection, they called on East Kilbr i de- based Glencairn Crystal to partner the bottle design and manufactur­e for the 26-year-old Gold Reserve and 30- year- old Platinum Reserve Irish single malts.

The 30- year- old release is believed to be the oldest bottling of Irish single malt recently released, arguably making this the world’s most exclusive Irish whiskey.

Scott Davidson, product director of Glencairn, said: “Glencairn Cr ystal’s reputation for high quality products is known globally throughout the whisky industry and we are delighted to work in partnershi­p with t he Teeling Whiskey C o mpany t o d e s i g n a n d supply these unique handcut crystal decanters for the latest editions to Teeling ’s vintage reserve collection.”

The Gold Reserve bottling consists of 26-year-old s i ngle malt I r i s h whiske y doubled distilled in 1987 and matured firstly in bourbon casks then allowed to marry i n whi t e Bu r g u n d y w i n e casks.

This small batch bottling of 1000 bottles, i s t he f i rst Irish whiskey to be finished i n whi t e Bu r g u n d y w i n e casks.

T h e P l a t i nu m R e s e r v e 3 0 - y e a r- o l d b o t t l i n g ha s been limited to 250 bottles, having been double distilled in 1983 and allowed to rest in a Bourbon cask.
