Parents’ register reminder

Lynda Nicol Parents and carers of children due to star t school i n August are required to register them now.

Children who will be five years of age between March 1, 2015, and the end of February 2016, must be registered.

To enrol your child at school you are asked to attend your catchment school during t he week beginning Monday, January 12 — next week.

Parents should contact their catchment s chool t o confir m ar ra ngements f or registrati­on.

I t i s o n l y t h e p a r e n t w i t h wh o m t h e c h i l d o r d i na r i l y r e s i d e s who i s authorised to register their child to start school.

E a c h c h i l d’s f u l l b i r t h c e r t i f i c a t e must be produced as well as two pieces of recent official documentat­ion both containing the parent’s permanent home address t o cl ar i f y proof of residenc y (e.g. utility bill, council tax statement, housing rent card, child benefit documentat­ion).

Additional proof of residency of the child may be required.

Parents are asked to note that admission to nursery classes is not governed by the same arrangemen­ts for primary school catchment areas.

Pa r e nt s must e n r o l t h e i r c h i l d a t t hei r c at c hment s c hool a nd s hould not presume that, if their child attends n u r s e r y i n a p r i ma r y s c h o o l , t h a t t here i s an automatic t ransfer t o t he primary school the nurser y is located in.
