Hunt for two men after dad stabbed in street

Victim is found lying near primary school

A young East Kilbride dad was stabbed in the street in broad daylight yards from a primary school.

Twenty-one-year-old Zenn Singh was rushed to hospital with a serious injury after being knifed with a fourinch blade in Westwood on Saturday morning.

A horrified passer-by spotted the blood-soaked victim lying on the ground near to Canberra Primary and rushed to his aid.

Pleading for help, Mr Singh said: “I’ve been stabbed.”

He was taken by ambulance to Hairmyres Hospital for treatment.

Witnesses reported seeing police officers searching for the weapon in nearby bushes.

Forensic officers were also at the scene taking photograph­s for some time.

The News understand­s the weapon has not been found.

A police spokeswoma­n said the incident was being treated as a serious assault and have launched a hunt for the attackers.

She said: “Police were called to Hairmyres Hospital in East Kilbride at around 10.15am after reports of a 21-year-old male being assaulted.

“Enquiries are ongoing in the Westwood Road area around Canberra Primary School to establish the circumstan­ces.”

The good Samaritan who helped

Mr Singh saw two men running along Belmont Drive around the time of the attack.

Police have released a descriptio­n of the suspects.

The first male is described as white, aged 20-25, 5’ 10” tall, with a slim build and short blonde hair.

He was wearing a blue jacket, blue jogging bottoms and dark trainers.

The second male is believed to be white, with dark brown hair and was wearing a puffa jacket, black jogging bottoms and white trainers.

Anyone with informatio­n that could lead to an arrest is urged to contact police on 101.

Mr Singh was discharged from hospital on Sunday.
