Duncanrig Secondary awards ceremony
Senior pupils at Duncanrig Secondary enjoyed an evening of presentations at the school’s Celebration of Achievement Ceremony
The students were recognised not only for their academic attainment but also for their sporting and musical achievements as well as their work in the community.
Welcoming family, friends and guests to the ceremony, depute head teacher George Randall was joined by Jill Watt, director of marketing and new product development for Mentholatum, who presented the award-winners with their prizes.
Addressing pupils at the ceremony, head teacher, George Wynne, told his senior pupils they should be extremely proud of themselves.
“In terms of attainment, the last three sets of SQA examination results have set new standards of performance for our school,” he said.
“We have seen improved and sustained attainment across all levels from National 4 to Advanced Higher.
“We have seen three very able years deliver outstanding exam results and you have managed to perform at such a high level that you are the very best performers within these year groups. I am proud of you, your teachers are proud of you and your folks are all extremely proud of you.
“I encourage you to enjoy your achievements but to move on from this point.
“You still have plenty more to achieve, you have considerable headroom in terms of talents and skills and you must continue to apply yourself within and beyond Duncanrig. You must hone the things you are good at to make you even better and you must spend time and energy working on those things that do not come naturally to you to ensure that you are back again next year and the years beyond that.
