Whole new world dawns in musical
Production will be sheer genie-us this year
Teenage actors Patrick Proven and Reece Thomson are set to enter‘a whole new world’ of musical theatre after landing the lead roles in the EROS Musical Society pantomime production of Aladdin.
The pair from East Kilbride, will star in the production at Eastwood Park Theatre between November 22 and 26.
Duncanrig Secondary pupil, Patrick (16), who will play Aladdin, has previously performed in several productions, including Grease, Robin Hood, High School Musical, Jack and the Beanstalk and Oliver. He is also currently filming River City and has just finished on Outlander.
Reece’s role as Princess Jasmine will be her debut performance with EROS.
The 19-year-old’s previous productions include playing Dorothy in The Wiz, Honk, Cinderella, Back to the 80s, The Wizard of Oz, Annie, Calamity Jane and Oliver.
Reece, from St Leonards, trained professionally at the Royal Scottish Conservatoire.
And she and hopes to eventually work in Disneyland Paris, as a reallife princess.
Patrick, from Gardenhall, said: “I’m so excited to be performing with EROS again. I love being on the stage and playing Aladdin is awesome.”
Mike Driscoll, EROS president, said: “We are all looking forward to the production of Aladdin, which will be our fourth panto following successful productions of Cinderella, Mother Goose and Sleeping Beauty.
“With some exciting new members in the cast, vibrant colours, costumes and choreography together with great songs and humour, Aladdin promises to be our best production yet.”
Aladdin is showing from November 22-26 at Eastwood Theatre.
