Bonfire night will go off with a bang at event

Round Table set to put on a show

- Mark Pirie

Strathaven and District Round Table hope that the bang and sparkle of this year’s Bonfire Night will encourage locals to join the group.

The organisation, which aims to raise money to put into community causes, regularly organise several events in the town – with the upcoming bonfire night.

The event this Saturday is regarded as the biggest for the group outside of the gala week festivities.

A spokesman for the event encouraged people to back the event and get involved with the group in the future.

He told the News: “The Round Table is a charitable and social organisation.

“We host events in Strathaven to raise charitable funding for our community in Strathaven and its districts.

“By supporting our events, you are supporting our community.”

Tickets can be purchased throughout the town for £3 each and £10 for a family-offour.

Children under the age of five get in for free.

The Round Table state that all the money raised is going back into the community.

There are a range of businesses and groups who are selling the tickets, including The Barber Shop, Craigs Newsagents, Wester Overton nursery and school, The Wee Sweetie Shop and The Smiddy amongst others.

Local groups can also get in touch with the Rotary Club to sell tickets for the bonfire night.

Doors will open for the event at 7pm with the show starting at 8pm.
