Table pitch in with a top donation

- Mark Pirie

The Strathaven Round Table have backed the project to build a new top-quality pitch for young sports stars in the town.

The round table donated £1000 to the Whiteshawgate 3G Sports Trust (W3ST) to help build the town’s first ever full-sized 3G floodlit pitch.

Strathaven Dynamo AFC and Strathaven RFC, who make up the W3ST partnership, welcomed the support after beginning work on the new pitches earlier this year.

Dynamo chairman Frank McGraw said:“The Strathaven Round Table are always supportive of any good work that goes on in the town.

“And once again they have shown just how much they care about the community with this excellent donation.

“We can’t thank them enough and we hope that we can build on this and work closely with them in the future.”

Mark Shields, chairman of Strathaven Round Table, felt this would help build for the future.

He said:“We are delighted to donate towards this fantastic community project which will make such a difference to our local sports teams.”

Since the launch of the capital appeal campaign at the end of February, more than 95 per cent of the £630,000 target has been raised towards the new facility, allowing work to commence.

W3ST hope individuals and local businesses will respond to a special opportunity and take ownership of a little piece of the new pitch.
