Silver Band heading to EK for gig
From Ostend to East Kilbride – that’s the journey being taken by the Coalburn Silver Band.
Members were in Belgium for the European Brass Band championships.
The band played two test pieces in the challenge section of the event at the Kursall Concert Hall in the heart of the seaside resort of Ostend.
A very credible fifth place was awarded to the band following performances of ‘Insomnia’and‘The Land of The Long White Cloud’under the direction of conductor Gareth Bowman. The band now turns its attention towards a return to East Kilbride next month for their annual summer concert.
It will take place on Friday, June 2 at East Kilbride Old Parish Church.
Doors open at 7pm with the concert starting at 7.30pm.The band will be playing a wide selection of music from a number of genres.
Coalburn Intermediate Band and a guest vocalist will join them for the evening.
Band President Alan Court said:“We’re thrilled to be returning to East Kilbride. This promises to be the most memorable of concerts and should appeal to everyone.
“A fantastic night of entertainment is guaranteed.”
Admission is £5 and is payable on the door.
Tickets are available in advance from the church office or from any band member.
