We’re all going on a summer holiday...
Shoppers share their hols plans
With summer holiday time upon us, we asked East Kilbride shoppers what their destination of choice is this year.
Westwood couple Liz, 82, and 88-year-old Bill Clelland told the News they usually spend the summer in Spain – but will have to settle for a short break closer to home this year due to health issues.
Liz said: “We like to go abroad and are usually in Palma Nova in Majorca each year but aren’t able to this year unfortunately. I think we will manage St Annes near Blackpool.”
EK shopper Joyce Buddy is jetting off to sunny Spain this week.
The 54-year-old said: “I’m off to Torremolinos on Friday. My family go to the same hotel every year – we love it there. It’s a really nice place. We just love Spain.”
Seventeen-year-old Matthew McStravick, from West Mains, is also off on a family trip to Spain but usually spends his summer holidays in Los Angeles, United States.
He said: “I’m staying in a villa in Murcia with my family. I’m looking forward to visiting Barcelona nearby and going to the Nou Camp.
“My uncle stays in LA so we normally go there and sometimes the Isle of Wight.”
Spain is also the destination of choice for Susan Bissell, 37, of The Murray. She said: “I’m going to Lanzarote in September for my partner’s birthday. I usually go abroad once a year. I’ve never been to Lanzarote so I can’t wait.”
