Hundreds take part in event
Jump along to the world’s biggest trampoline park
Over 300 athletes descended on East Kilbride to compete in the Calderglen Harriers’ trail races.
Held in the grounds of Calderglen Country Park, the event played host to 10k, 5k, 3k and 1k races with both adults and children taking part.
The main event, the 10k, was won by Ronhill Cambuslang runner Robert Gilroy, who crossed the line in a time of 35 minutes and 18 seconds from a group of 174 competitors.
Edinburgh AC’s Neil Renault was second in a time of 36.31 and Andrew Bonner, of Giffnock North, was third in 37.43.
The highest placed EK athlete was Jamie Clements of East Kilbride Athletic Club who finished fifth in a time of 38.31.
Renault went one better in the 5k as he claimed victory in a time of 17.03, closely followed by EKAC’s Aidan Gilbride, who took second place in a time of 17.19. Craig Jardine of Ronhill Cambuslang was third out of 50 participants in 17.48.
The 3k for runners at under-15s and under-12s level was won by Ronhill Cambuslang’s U15 athlete Brodie Aitken in 11.08.
A total of 72 youngsters took part and Giffnock North’s Craig Sheenan (U12) took the runners-up spot in a time of 11.50. Unattached athlete Jake Graham (U12) was third in 11.52.
The highest-placed EK athlete in the 3k was Whitemoss AAC’s Charlie Frew (U15) who finished in a time of 12.18.
Finally, the 1km fun run featured 44 youngsters and EKAC’s Sam McGrory took first place in a time of 4.05. Calderglen Harriers athlete Steven Cooper recorded the same time but was deemed to have finished second by a hair’s breadth.
Cooper’s Calderglen team-mate Ben Buchanan was third – finishing in a time of 4.19.
