Community grants handed out
Community groups in East Kilbride and Avondale received a cash boost when the latest round of grants were approved.
In a paper put before councillors at an East Kilbride area committee meeting, 15 organisations enjoyed a windfall totalling £3460 on top of £9580 previously allocated.
It means that out of the £25,000 available to community groups for 2017/18, there is still £11,960 left in the pot. The groups in East Kilbride and Avondale to be awarded grants last month were:
Strathaven Rainbow Social Club, £350 for specialist transport;
Claremont Rambling Club, £200 for outing;
Moncrieff Parish Church Guild, £200 for outing;
The Golden Girls Guild, £200 for outing; Calder Tower Residents’Association, £200 for outing;
Glassford Church Women’s Guild, £130 for outing;
Chapelton Silver Circle, £200 for outing; National Schizophrenia Fellowship, East Kilbride, £250 for outing and fees;
Friends of Langlands Moss Local Nature Reserve, £200 for equipment;
Our Lady of Lourdes Bowling Club, East Kilbride, £180 for outing;
East Kilbride Boys’Brigade, £200 for entrance fees;
‘Live it for Lee’, East Kilbride, £250 for outing and equipment;
Strathaven and District Probus Club, £200 for outing.
