Blood bus heading to the Ballerup Hall

There are some dates to put in the diary for blood donors in East Kilbride and Avondale.

For the Scottish National Blood Transfusio­n Service (SNBTS) is heading for the Ballerup Hall five times over the coming three months.

Donations can be made from 2.15pm to 3.45pm and from 5.15pm to 7.30pm on Monday, October 16.

On Friday, October 20, people can pop along between 10am and noon and from 1.30pm to 3pm.

The next trip to East Kilbride for the blood bus will be Monday, December 11 from 2.15pm to 3.45pm and 5.15pm to 7.30pm.

Donors can give a Christmas present with a difference on Friday, December 22 from 10am until noon and 1.30pm to 3pm.

On Friday, December 29, donations can be made from 10am and noon and 1.30pm to 3pm.

A SNBTS spokespers­on said: “Every minute of every day someone in Scotland receives blood as part of a life-saving or life-enhancing treatment.

“Only three per cent of the population are active blood donors. SNBTS must welcome 3500 blood donors every week to meet the needs of patients in Scotland.

“We aim to have six days supply of each blood group at all times to continue to meet hospital requiremen­ts.
